Doha: A six and half year old’s emotional letter to a British football club is breaking Twitter with hashtag #FindJoe going viral in an effort to identify the boy.

Joe, a big fan of Swindon Town Football Club, sends a handwritten note to the club saying his mother doesn’t have the money to come to the games as she must pay for his dinner at school. But he promises to come to the match one day and even made a contribution of 26 pence to his favorite player Harry McKirdy.

Swindon Town FC, a professional football club based in Swindon, Oxfordshire, England, tweeted the letter along with an appeal to help them find the boy as he has not given a written address.

“We have received this letter from Town fan Joe, aged 6 and a half. We'd really love to get in touch with Joe, but we don't have a return address. If anyone recognises the writing or thinks they know who Joe is, please email [email protected],” the club tweeted.

Many people and organisations including FIFA retweeted this appeal with the hashtag #findjoe.

The club later tweeted “We would like to thank everyone who has reached out in our search for Joe. We are currently still searching for Joe and his family and, once we have made contact, we will be ensuring that they get to a game in style and are well looked after by the club.”

Swindon Town FC currently competes in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. The club has played home matches at the County Ground since 1896, which now boasts a capacity of 15,728.
