Doha, Qatar: In an era marked by rapid societal changes and evolving challenges faced by the younger generation, the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of the Qatar Foundation, has emerged as a steadfast advocate for youth and adolescent wellbeing.

As part of its ongoing work, DIFI will host a special summit to discuss the significant challenges youth and adolescents face, according to the Executive Director of DIFI, Dr. Sharifa Noaman Al Emadi.

“To further understand the important role that youth and adolescents play in development and towards highlighting the factors that impact their decisions and their trends and aspirations, DIFI will dedicate a special summit to young people. It will open the door for them (youth and adolescents) to address major challenges and express their family concerns as we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family in 2024,” she said in DIFI’s latest newsletter.

Year of the Family looks ahead to 2024 and beyond various lenses. It will target challenges the family unit faces, such as family mega trends recommendations, Sustainable development Goals and families dissemination, lessons learned from the pandemic, and strategic partnerships campaign.

Dr. Al Emadi has underlined that through its policy-oriented research initiatives, DIFI has not only underscored the pivotal role of the family in nurturing this demographic’s welfare but has also gained global recognition for its contributions towards advancing collective knowledge.

She has highlighted that adolescent wellbeing is fundamental to society’s progress and begins with the family.

According to Dr. Al Emadi, with a commitment that spans local, regional, and international levels, DIFI’s efforts are shaping a more inclusive and informed approach to empowering youth, transcending geographical boundaries while emphasising the significance of family bonds.

The research conducted by DIFI on Adolescent well-being in Qatar exemplifies a dedicated effort to bolster the youth and comprehend methods to shield them from potential risks while amplifying their protective elements.

A crucial aspect of this is the emotional sustenance provided by parents. The emotional support adolescents receive from their parents fortifies constructive behaviors guides them towards well-considered choices, and cultivates robust communication channels, nurturing parent-adolescent solid connections.
