Doha: 52% of work in Qatar is susceptible to automation as per the World Economic Forum.
According to the international non-governmental organization, 46% of work activities in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are also projected to become automated in the coming years.
A majority of the fastest-growing roles worldwide are technology-related roles, with technology projected to transform 1 billion jobs by 2030.
The increasing push towards automation, as per the Forum’s 2023 Future of Jobs report, will see data entry clerks, cashiers, ticket clerks, and bank tellers among the fastest declining jobs worldwide.
Cashiers and ticket clerks are among the 26 million record-keeping and administrative jobs expected to become fewer by the year 2027.
Accounting, bookkeeping, payroll clerks, and administrative and executive secretaries are also expected to become lesser in demand, mainly due to digitalization and automation.
AI and machine learning specialists top the list of fastest-growing jobs, followed by sustainability specialists, business intelligence analysts, and information security analysts.
On March of this year, the State of Qatar affirmed that digital transformation was essential to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and to building a country that is both advanced and capable of sustainable development and providing its citizens with decent living.
Education industry jobs are projected to grow by about 10%, with 3 million additional jobs for vocational education teachers and university and higher education teachers.
The Future of Jobs report surveyed 803 companies employing over 11.3 million workers across 27 industry clusters and 45 economies from all world regions.
