Doha: Families across the country marked Garangao celebration today where children were rewarded with goods and gifts for completing half a month of fasting.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the country renewed the spirit of this tradition which dates back from the ancient time.

Celebrations were held at various cultural hubs of the country, including Katara. Children sang traditional Garangao songs and collected gifts. A number of other activities were also held to mark the festival.

Meanwhile, Ooredoo arranged a trip to Angry Birds World at Doha Festival City for a group of children from local community centres so they could celebrate Garangao.

The trip gave the children the opportunity to celebrate Garangao at the entertainment park. They enjoyed two hours of play and shows, and received Angry Birds World gifts.
