Doha: Healthcare professionals have urged the public to follow all preventive measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
In a social media campaign, senior health officials including nurses, paramedics and public health professional across the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have reiterated the importance of adhering to precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
They have specified that healthcare workers are committed to caring for people with COVID-19 and urged public to follow precautionary measures.
Senior health officials including Director of Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control at the Public Health Department and co-chair of the National Epidemic Preparation Committee, Dr. Hamad Al Rumaihi; Medical Director, Communicable Disease Center, Dr. Muna Al Maslamani; and Assistant Executive Director of HMC’s Ambulance Service, Ali Darwish have joined others in the campaign.
The Ministry shared pictures of officials and medical staff holding placards saying, “We’re working 24/7 to fight COVID-19. Please help us by following the precautionary measures.”
The message is in English, Arabic and several other languages. The Ministry has also reiterated the importance of public playing their role in controlling the spread of COVID-19.
“While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually increased in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures,” it said in social media accounts.
The Ministry has stressed the importance of adhering to preventive measures such as always wearing a mask when going outside your home, maintaining at least 1.5m distance from others, avoiding crowded places, limiting time in enclosed spaces and washing hands regularly.
In a separate post, Dr. Jamila Al Ajmi, Executive Director of the Infection Control Department at HMC, has highlighted the important precautionary measures to be taken while entering the workplace.
She advised adhering to social distancing guidelines and always maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 metres, wearing a mask at all times and ensuring the mask is safely disposed of after use, avoiding greeting other people with handshakes and avoiding gatherings in hallways, using gloves and hand sanitisers when entering the workplace and staying at home and seeking medical attention in case of symptoms of a respiratory illness.
