Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has warned of strong wind from tomorrow and it is forecast to last for several days. During this period, blowing dust is expected and sometimes dusty weather will lead to low horizontal visibility.
Wave heights will also rise to 15ft offshore along with a drop in temperature.
In line with this, QMD recently announced fresh to strong northwesterly wind which will affect the country from Wednesday, March 16 until the beginning of next week.
Wind speeds are expected to range from 15-25 KT gusting to 40 KT at times in some places.
In addition to this, wave heights will range between 7-12 ft during this period, exceeding 14 ft at times offshore while it reaches 5ft at some parts inshore. The country may also witness high tides coinciding with the strong northwesterly wind and high sea.
From tomorrow, March 16, temperatures are also predicted to drop with the minimum expected to range between 13 to 18 degree Celsius and the maximum to range between 21 to 33 degree Celsius. Apparent temperatures may also be less than that.
QMD urged all citizens and residents to avoid all marine activities and to take extra precaution.
