Doha: A conference entitled “Conflict in Yemen: The Current Scene and Probing the Future,” which is being held by the Centre for Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Action at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies started yesterday in cooperation with the Arab Centre Washington, DC, and the Deep Roots Foundation, which specialises in political and economic issues. and development in Yemen.
The two-day conference brings together a number of local and international researchers and experts to discuss the most pressing issues related to the conflict in Yemen and the post-conflict phase, to enhance efforts made or to be made in peacemaking, recovery, reconstruction and development.
Representatives of the organising bodies stressed the importance of this academic conference and its timing in light of the current developments in Yemen to monitor and understand the latest analyses on the Yemeni crisis and the path of the peace process in the country.
On the first day of the conference, US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking and a representative of the Yemeni government gave speeches, in addition to the participation of a group of researchers, specialists and those interested in the Yemeni issue.
