Doha: Dark rain clouds were seen over the sky in many parts of the country this afternoon as people wait for the imminent rainfall in Doha. Mild rain was reported from Rawdat Rashid, west of Doha, by some social media users.

Department of Meteorology said on Twitter that “the latest aerial photographs and radar show the continuation of thunderstorms in the center and south-west of the country.”

“Local cloud development expected to continue during noon time today and tomorrow with a chance of scattered thunderstorms especially in western and southern areas which may be accompanied with strong wind causing blowing dust and low visibility at times,” MET added.

Safety tips
The weather bureau urged people to “stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid standing on roofs, or near high trees and electricity poles, make sure to close the windows if you are inside a car and stay away from open water.”
