Good outing for Qatari riders Rashid, Bassem at Al Shaqab

DOHA: Home rider Rashid Towaim Al Marri of Qatar yesterday won €5000 on horse’s name in the 1.30m Fault and Time on day four at the 2014 Al Shaqab International Equestrian Competition. 
Al Marri said that he expected to win and thanked his horse Kannada for success on home soil. 
“I think about my mare all the time,” Al Marri said. 
“I try to make her happy all the time and she gave me everything,” 
Al Marria competes across the Middle East but had words of praise for Al Shaqab Arena 
“It’s awesome to have this in Qatar,” he said.
Talking about the level of competition in the CSI3* events yesterday, Show Jumping Judge John Doney said: “It’s always interesting to come to this part of the world. When I started to come, many years ago, if the riders got up to 120 it was great stuff.”
He added: “Now, with all the facilities and the training, all the things that happen in this part of the world, the standard is increasing every year. So now the Europeans have to watch what they’re doing in this part of the world. It’s really good for our sport.”
Meanwhile, Bassem Hassan Mohammed of Qatar won €6250 on Anyway II the 1.45 m/ 2 Phases. 
This is the second win of CHI Al Shaqab 2014 for Bassem. He also won the CSI3* Fault and time competition yesterday. 
Bassem said: “Up until now, I am happy and I hope my success continues to the Grand Prix – it’s important for me to do well in this as it’s important for me to get points for the World Rankings.” 
On his preparation for each event, he said: “Last night I slept well, tonight the same and after I win the show tomorrow, I will go to a big party”.

Al Shaqab equestrian center is a member of Qatar Foundation and was founded in 1992 by Father Emir, H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to promote and enrich his nation’s traditional association with the Arabian horse.

2nd Place: Abdulrahman Al Saaq Al Marri of Qatar on Victoria won amount  €4000
3rd Place: Khalid Sanad Al Nuaimi of Qatar on Daydreamer EC won €3000

Total Prize Money:  EUR 25,000
1st Place: Bassem Hassan Mohammed of Qatar on Anyway II won €6250
