The State of Qatar participated in the ministerial meeting of the 115th ordinary Session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which was convened at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.
Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, led the State of Qatar’s delegation to meeting. The agenda included a range of critical items, notably the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), updates on the Arab Customs Union, follow-up on decisions from the 114th session, the Arab region’s water security strategy, in addition to supporting the Palestinian economy, as well as other economic and social issues. The week-long preparatory meetings featured a meeting at senior officials’ level, following two meetings convened by the social and economic committees respectively, in which the State of Qatar participated with a delegation from the Ministry of Finance.
