Katara proves to be a popular Eid destination

With a large number of children and families participating in its events from all walks of life, the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara has established itself as one of the top destinations in the country during Eid Al Adha.

In contrast to other organisations, Katara began its Eid Al Adha celebrations on Friday with a range of kid-friendly activities. There were also theatrical play performances and movie screenings up until yesterday.

Katara said in a statement that they witnessed a great turnout of visitors all throughout the holidays from children’s workshops, theatrical plays, movie screenings, and at Katara Beach. 

Activities on kid-friendly classes included colouring, face painting, canvas painting, ceramic painting, balloon twisting, slime, and mascots show.

Its Eidiya or gift giving to children also drew crowds which was held at Katara main entrance. Aside from entertainment activities, educational movie shows were presented by Al Thuraya Planetarium at Building 41 which started on Sunday. Among the movies that were shown in 2D or 3D are: Polaris Show, The Zula Patrol Show, The Astronaut, and The Stars.

Theatrical plays are also a big hit among the young and adults. The play ‘Karim Challenges the Leader’ was shown from July 9 to 12, wherein two shows were held each day for the past four days. 

The play is of a social and comic character, written by Talib Al Dos, directed by Faisal Rashid, and starring a group of young artists, including Muhammad Al Sayegh, Muhammad Adel, Abdullah Al Othm, Ibrahim Al Aqidi, Yasmine, Fatima Al Shrouqi.

Katara Beach, meanwhile is a favourite place for those who wanted to beat the heat wave. The management also announced a 50 percent discount for water games and free entry for those under 18 years old. Katara Hills also received an influx of visitors during the holidays where people opted for a more relaxed vibe overlooking the cultural village and the sea.

Muhammad Saleh, together with his family has been visiting Katara for the past years during Eid. He said that Katara’s innovative and interesting shows are among the reasons why they keep on coming back. He praised its joyful atmosphere, modern facilities and exceptional nature experience that the village offers.

Another visitor, Abdul Rahman said he preferred to spend the holidays at the village because of its festive celebration and being a tourist destination overall. 

Rasha Riyad, meanwhile expressed her joy visiting Katara together with her children where they watched theatrical shows, and participated in art workshops. She explained that the workshops quench the thirst of her children during the Eid on the aspect of creativity, imagination, leaving them with sweet and joyful memories.

Zainab and her husband, Kashif together with their four children spent the last two days of Eid at Katara Hills and Katara Beach. 

“My kids loved Katara, especially the park and the beach. After we went for a stroll in the park, we headed to the beach late afternoon and enjoyed the sunset from there. Katara has always been a go-place for our family because it is accessible and offers a lot of activities especially for the kids,” she narrated.
