Doha, Qatar: The highly anticipated Ayjal Film Festival is making a comeback for its 11th edition, scheduled to take place from November 8 to 16. The exciting announcement was made by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) through its various social media platforms.
“Ajyal is returning! Now in its 11th edition, the festival will once again deliver an exceptional, unforgettable experience for film lovers of all ages, bringing joy and inspiration to all members of the family,” DFI said. ‘Ajyal’ is Arabic for ‘generations’.
With the aim of empowering the youth and inspiring film enthusiasts of all ages, the Ayjal Film Festival has become a prominent event in Qatar and the region.
The festival’s lineup will include the renowned Ayjal Competition, where young people from around the world will have the unique opportunity to sit on the juries and decide the competition winners. This core component of the festival provides a platform for hundreds of young emerging talents and encourages their creative growth.
Another highlight of the festival is the popular Made in Qatar section, which showcases the works of local filmmakers and promotes the region’s cinematic achievements. This section offers a valuable opportunity for filmmakers to share their stories with a wider audience.
In addition to the official film programme, the Ayjal Film Festival will feature Special Screenings, Thematic Tributes, Cinema Under the Stars, and the Creativity Hub. These diverse offerings aim to engage and entertain audiences of all ages, providing an inclusive and interactive experience with the medium of cinema.
The festival also serves as an open forum for dialogue and discourse, allowing participants to engage in discussions on a wide range of topics. It creates a platform where complex issues facing today’s youth can be addressed, empowering the next generation of storytellers and amplifying their voices.
Film submissions for the festival are now open, starting from June 11. Filmmakers interested in participating in the Ayjal Competition have until August 24 to submit their entries, while the deadline for Made in Qatar submissions is set for September 1.
