The Doha International Family Institute will host the first “Gulf Family Policy Forum” to explore opportunities for improving family-related policies in the GCC.

The Forum, which is held in cooper-ation with the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Min-isters of Social Affairs in GCC states, will highlight the family policies followed in GCC countries, discuss urgent issues facing these families, and examine ways to support family-related policies and programs.

It will also specifically look at the flexible work policies and arrange-ments that have become prevalent post-COVID-19, and marital education pro-grams applied in GCC countries to for-mulate and propose recommendations for developing family policies.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Sharifa Noman Al Emadi, Executive Director of DIFI, a member of Qatar Foundation, said: “We are pleased to organize this joint Gulf initiative, which will convene policymakers, specialists, and civil society organizations in an interactive platform. This gathering pro-vides an opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance collaborations in affairs concerning families in the GCC.“During the Forum, we plan to shed light on the developments in family pol-icies in Qatar and give a preview of DIFI’s latest studies on these subjects. We also aspire to put forward recommendations that will serve as a road map to strength-ening the family in the Gulf, supporting its cohesion, and reinforcing its pro-tection mechanism.”

Taking place at 9am on Monday, November 15, via Zoom, the Gulf Family Policy Forum features the participation of directors and staff of the Ministries of social development affairs in GCC coun-tries and affiliated centers, as well as representatives of authorities concerned with family affairs in those countries. With the aim of launching a joint Gulf initiative, the organizers seek to hold the Forum annually and, in doing so, expand its base partners to ensure family well-being and cohesion in the GCC countries. Those who wish to participate in this highly engaging event can register to attend the Forum via: https://www.difi.org.qa/events/gcc-family-policies-forum/
