Doha: The Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force ‘Lekhwiya’ retrieved the first dead body of a Lebanese security officer from under the rubble of the Beirut port, which witnessed a huge explosion last Tuesday that left dozens dead and thousands wounded.
Local media outlets said that the body was that of a security officer working in the port, who died in the explosion.
A team from the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group arrived in Beirut a few days ago to assist Lebanese forces in search and rescue operations at the explosion site.
Search and rescue operations are continuing in the area looking for survivors or dead bodies under the rubble, a mission, in which the Lebanese army and security forces are supporting specialized international rescue teams, including the Qatari team.
