Early testing and rapid isolation of suspected COVID-19 cases by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH0 has helped and benefitted many in the country. Mona Abdurashid (pictured), a Palestinian national living in Doha, is one of the many who have benefit from contact tracking and early screening of COVID-19.

Mona lauded the government for the excellent care and high quality services she received. “The medical and quarantine facilities are remarkable,” she told The Peninsula.

Mona narrated her experience from a government supported hotel quarantine facility in Doha. Her husband who is a laboratory technician first tested positive for COVID-19, during a routine screening held at his workplace.

“Then our family was called for testing and we were asked to be in self isolation at home. I was tested positive and notified through the Ehteraz app. But all my children were tested negative. Same day I was brought to the Communicable Disease Centre by the ambulance service for further examinations,” said Mona.

“My condition is mild and was transferred to the hotel quarantine,” she said. Her husband is also in mild condition and at a hotel quarantine. “I was diagnosed early because of the efficient contact tracking system, screening and testing measures implemented by the Ministry,” said Mona. “I had no symptoms of COVID-19.

If they had not tested me, I would have continued carrying the disease and spread it to my children. This shows the importance of testing for the disease and the efficiency of Qatar in tackling the pandemic,” she added. Mona said that she received the best treatment, care and service that one can imagine. Yesterday (June 11) was her ninth day in quarantine. ‘Everyone at here is being treated equally. Every doctor, every nurse took personal care and provided us with every medication and mental support.

They also provided us with very healthy food and other requirements every time,” she said.

Though, it was slightly difficult for Mona to adjust to the situation in the beginning, soon felt well due to the excellent care given by the medical staff. Being a writer and blogger, Mona started to pen her thoughts every day in her Instagram page. “Being tested positive for COVID-19 is challenging.

I was worried but then released the need to be strong and recover. So I started writing a blog in my Instagram page daily like a diary. I share my experience and thoughts,” she said.
