H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, Executive Director, Doha Forum
Doha: Doha Forum, through the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences (PCOC) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has signed a partnership agreement with Aspiration, a US-based global company, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality, so the Forum will be one of the first carbon neutral conferences in the world.
Commenting on the agreement, H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, the Executive Director of Doha Forum, said: “Our commitment to achieving carbon neutrality is just an example of the actions that all organisations and institutions must take to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. This years Doha Forum addressed how to transition into a new era, and there is no doubt that climate change and sustainability are areas that we must all adapt to.”
Aspiration will enable Doha Forum to achieve carbon neutrality through technology-based carbon footprint analytics and its large and diverse pool of high-quality carbon credits, including its global reforestation program.
The latest edition of the Doha Forum, which was held from March 26 to 27 under the theme “Transforming for a New Era”, witnessed the announcement of this partnership, which will allow the Forum to contribute to eight of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including climate action, decent work and economic growth, sustainable cities and communities, and ecosystem restoration.
Headquartered in the United States, Aspiration is a global leader in sustainability solutions, serving consumers, businesses and governments to oversee the implementation of unprecedented commitments to achieving carbon neutrality around the world.
