Doha, Qatar: Mexico’s Pachuca and Brazil’s Botafogo are set to face-off in the much-anticipated Derby of the Americas showdown at Doha's Stadium 974, signaling the kick off of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024.

Both teams will be fighting for a ticket to FIFA Challenger Cup, where the winner will face reigning Egyptian and African champions Al Ahly on December 14.

Coach Guillermo Almada's Pachuca secured their spot by winning the Concacaf Champions Cup 2024. Almada described participating in the Intercontinental Cup as a “unique opportunity.”

For Botafogo and coach Artur Jorge, their Cinderella story culminated with them earning their maiden Copa Libertadores title with a 3-1 triumph over fellow Brazilians Atletico Mineiro Intercontinental Cup before clinching the Campeonato Brasileiro title on Sunday – their first league triumph in 29 years.

All eyes will be on this intense matchup with both teams looking for a chance to draw closer to intercontinental glory.
