DOHA: Cultural Village Foundation-Katara in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Doha and Korea-Arab society organized Korean-Arab Friendship caravan on Friday at Drama theatre.
During the show a group of 25 Korean performers showcased oriental and contemporary break dances that enthralled attendees with the award-winning street dance group Marionette that has perform on stage and presented in the traditional Korean customs an innovative and exciting experience that is unique from other B-Boy performances as its grand choreography harmonizes with various music.
General Manager of Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said: “This move stems from the duty of care that Katara embraces as an Arab and international cultural minaret as well as its important role in enhancing openness to the world cultures. Therefore, Katara is pleased to introduce the authentic culture of the Republic of Korea to its audiences.”
He pointed out that hosting the Korean- Arab Friendship Caravan by Katara will definitely advance the ties between our countries especially on the cultural level, which is a gate to enhance cooperation in other domains. It also enhances the distinguished ties between our nations.
The ambassador of the republic of Korea in Doha, Park Heung-Kyeong, said: “The event offers various Korean cultural programs combining tradition and modernity to effectively introduce Korean culture and arts to the Arab region.”
Commenting on the turnout of people said: ”We are impressed with the number of attendees in the event, as it has grabbed over 400 people from different nationalities. We have merged the contemporary with the traditional in a bid to meet the expectation of all segments.”
Korean-Arab friendship Caravan included also the traditional Korean Dance by Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company which was established in 1993, with the aim of developing Korea’s traditional dances and unique regional cultures and promoting them oversees.
