Aster Hospital opens doors to patients

The newly opened Aster Hospital at Old Airport, with advanced facilities and emergency services, started receiving patients since Thursday. 

The hospital has 50 beds for inpatients and around 16 outpatient clinics with different specialties. It will soon implement the Hospital Information system (HIS) which will have all patient records available electronically. 
A media tour of the facility was organised in the presence of Dr Sameer Moopan, Chief Executive Officer of Aster DM Healthcare- Qatar and several other senior representatives of the hospital. 

“HIS will be first introduced at the Aster Hospital and later with all our clinics. It will help physicians to access patient records across our facilities,” said Regina Pinto, Head of the Nursing Department on sidelines of the media tour. 

The two storey hospital building includes an Emergency Department, Medical Department, diagnosis and treatment units.

“We have the latest technology and medical expertise to provide the best care,” said Pinto.  The hospital offers treatment and services in all types of specialties including orthopedics, gastroenterology, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, dental and maxillofacial, general surgery along with general medicine, ENT, physiotherapy, paediatrics and neonatology.

It has four emergency rooms, and one separate unit to treat trauma patients. The hospital has three Operation Theatres, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with four beds and one isolation room, Day Surgery unit with seven beds. 

The obstetrics and gynecology department includes two delivery rooms, a Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and Well baby nursery. 

The diagnostic services includes an advanced MRI unit, CT scan and digital X ray, including pathology services including an advanced laboratory and a 24 hour pharmacy. 

This is the first hospital of Aster DM Healthcare in Qatar and its structure was completed within 18 months. It received the final approval from Ministry of Public Health to start operations last Tuesday.
