Qatar Foundation (QF) plays a decisive role in supporting the country to build a knowledge-based economy, through promoting academic excellence.  Also, QF has helped to create a highly educated workforce that is well-positioned to contribute to the growth of the country’s knowledge-based economy, said QF’s Higher Education Director for Strategy and Partnership, Dr. Lolwa Al Naemi.

“Qatar’s leadership has been dedicated to building a knowledge-based economy, with a strong emphasis on investing in the education sector. This vision is closely aligned with Qatar Foundation’s mission, which is to unlock human potential and create a more sustainable future for Qatar and the world,” said Al Naemi speaking to The Peninsula, coinciding with the QF Convocation 2023, yesterday.

“Our unique ecosystem and multiversity approach has played a critical role in supporting Qatar’s vision for a knowledge-based economy. By creating a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment that emphasises innovation and lifelong learning, Qatar Foundation has helped to produce a highly skilled workforce that is well-equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world,” she added.

QF Convocation 2023 marked the culmination and commemoration of the academic and personal journeys taken by students at partner universities. This year QF has introduced the Al Ihsan Award for outstanding students’ exceptional achievements.

“In the 2023 Convocation, we are celebrating the hard work, dedication, and achievements of more than 850 graduating students from the eight universities in Education City. The convocation marks a significant milestone for students as they embark on their new journeys. It also marks an important milestone for Qatar Foundation, as we continue to contribute to the development of Qatar’s education sector and the growth of the country as a whole,” said Al Naemi.

She said the Al Ihsan Award was introduced to encourage Qatar Foundation students to thrive in academic excellence and values.

“This year, Qatar Foundation has introduced the Al Ihsan award to recognise graduating students who have embodied the commitment to achieving academic excellence, developing a full range of professional and life skills – from leadership and innovation to creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving – and displaying values and a sense of civic duty that help empower others. As we continue to inspire our students to be their very best, the Al Ihsan Award serves as an important recognition of their exceptional achievements.”
