Doha, Qatar: Media City Qatar, in collaboration with Google Cloud, has unveiled ‘Qatar ArtBeat,’ a trailblazing initiative which aims to blend AI and social media to create a unique artwork — by the nation and for the nation — in celebration of the upcoming Qatar National Day 2024.
Residents, expats, and visitors are urged to participate by sharing their thoughts about Qatar National Day, and what it means to them by answering inspiring questions posted on Media City Qatar’s social media channels from December 9 until December 17, 2024.
The final AI-powered artwork will be revealed on December 18, 2024. To ensure participation in the initiative, the public is encouraged to use the hashtag #QatarArtBeat on social media.
The collective emotions, thoughts, and voices of the public will then be transformed into a unique and bespoke artwork through Google Cloud’s AI capabilities.
To create this unique artwork, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, Gemini models and Google BigQuery data platform, will be used to analyse social media conversations and sentiments about Qatar National Day.
Commenting on the launch of the project, CEO of Media City Eng Jassim Mohamed Al Khori said: “This National Day, we are marking the occasion in a truly unique way, by inviting the community to co-create an artwork that represents the essence of Qatar.”
On choosing Qatar National Day to launch the project, he stated: “We wanted to do something unique for the nation, we wanted to leave our fingerprints locally. We believe this is the right moment. Again, it is a digital celebration.”
He also stated that ‘Qatar ArtBeat’ marks the beginning of many more digital transformational initiatives in the country, as he envisions to work with the community on more events in the future.
“We really encourage everyone, residents, expats, and whoever is visiting Qatar to participate and share their emotions about this specific event. Yes, this is a national event, but the social media is for everyone,” he told The Peninsula.
Regional General Manager of Google Cloud Ghassan Kosta also underscored the importance of AI in amalgamating the voices of the community to celebrate the national identity.
“It’s a great proud moment that we are able to contribute in something creative for a very important day that is the Qatar National Day,” he told The Peninsula.
Speaking on the anticipation for the final image of the co-created artwork, he added: “It will be a unique outwork that all of us are looking forward to after getting all those emotions and analysing.
What could be this artwork? Because for sure it could be something unique that all of us will be celebrating, and let’s wait and double check what could be,” he added.
