Qatar, Iraq sign MoU on legal cooperation

Doha: The State of Qatar and the Republic of Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in legal fields between the two  ministries of justice. 

The agreement was signed by Minister of Justice H E Masoud bin Mohammed Al Ameri, and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Iraq H E Salar Abdul Sattar Mohammed, who is currently visiting the country. 

The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the legal fields, exchange expertise on legal matters, particularly in successful practices in the field of legal and judicial training, as well as lawyering and registering experts. The agreement also builds a foundation for joint cooperation in the documentation and real estate registration fields, in addition to exchanging expertise on legal actions related to real estate, and the procedures of its registration. It also addresses the documentation of commercial companies’ contracts and other forms of contracts in the two countries. 

On the sidelines of the signing, the Minister of Justice met with his Iraqi counterpart and his accompanying delegation. 

The meeting dealt with reviewing ways to enhance legal cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Iraq, and how to develop it different justice-related fields. The meeting also dealt with mechanisms to implement the memorandum of understanding, and discussed a number of issues of joint interest.
