Popular Nigerian child comedienne Emmanuella will headline a group of African comedians set to thrill Doha in the African Comedy Festival on June 10 (today).
The event, to be held at Dana Club’s Al Jewan Hall, will enjoy a fun night of ribs cracking jokes and music from the mark Angel Comedy team and other sensational comedians, including Eric Omondi from Kenya, Tumi Morake from South Africa and Salvador (Patrick Idringi) from Uganda.
The event organized by Oryx Group Entertainment and its partners will also see Qatar-based cultural groups perform like the Kenyan Green Maasai Troupe, Ugandan Twegate Dance Group, Ghanaian Dance Ensemble and MC Justice.
“With the last two years of near-zero entertainment events due to the Coronavirus and the ensuing lockdown, residents of Qatar need something unique as we navigate the post-Covid-19 era. Hence, we thought about holding an amazing African Comedy Festival to redefine the pace of entertainment growth in Qatar and promote Africa positively,” Famous Aluya, CEO of Oryx Group Entertainment, said.
Aluya noted that the event would be another opportunity to showcase the strength of Qatar’s diverse community in terms of cultures -- showing the unification Qatar has helped to build amongst its residents and citizens.
“As Qatar prepares to host the FIFA World Cup later this year, it is necessary to raise the African rhythm as we join a host of other continents supporting Qatar in this amazing journey.
“This makes the show very significant and timely. For the very first time in Qatar, residents and nationals will have the opportunity to have a 100 percent African comedy show. It is an event that is not restricted to Africans, but and open to all nationalities and ages,” he added.
Tickets are available at Virgin Megastore and other outlets.
