Doha: The Chefs of Qatar Virtual Food Festival has recorded 4,500 meals ordered through talabat, organisers of the festival, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) told The Peninsula.
The festival, which will conclude on Wednesday, aims to celebrate Qatar’s culinary arts and cultural diversity through various dishes and flavours offered by the hospitality sector in general and the F&B sector in particular.
“We started the festival with the participation of 23 restaurants, and today it has increased to 29 restaurants. We aim to enrich and diversify the offerings during the virtual festival, and all the restaurants interested in taking part in Chefs of Qatar are welcomed. More than 4,500 meals have been ordered through the Chefs of Qatar menu on talabat, and more are expected in the final week of the festival,” the QNTC said.
Food lovers can order exclusive dishes and 3-course meals and Iftar-dinner combos prepared by renowned chefs in Qatar.
The festival partner Qatar Airways is giving away 24 return tickets to any Qatar Airways destination worldwide from Doha throughout the festival.
The festival will also provide the patrons an opportunity to care for those in need.
The festival, a first of its kind in the region, has collaborated with local celebrity chefs and international chefs, bringing a blend of traditional and international cuisines.
The QNTC said the initiative is also vital for Qatari chefs to develop their capabilities alongside their peers.
“At QNTC, we support the entrepreneurs in all the activities that we do, be it Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), or Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), or Shop Qatar festival by allowing local talents to participate and meet their peers to gain experience and develop their capabilities.
“Besides, the Chefs of Qatar festival has brought local and international chefs under one roof to exchange experiences.
“These partnerships were made during the festival, allowing Park Hyatt Doha to host Chef Noor Al Mazroei and Mondrian Hotel Doha to host the renowned Qatari Chef Hassan Al Ibrahim.”
Meanwhile, QNTC is working with its partner hotels and other stakeholders to provide residents access to leisure activities in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
QNTC said it is constantly developing its yearly calendar of events and providing innovative initiatives to support the hospitality sector.
