From dragon boat race to a cupcake exhibition or a circus, we have chosen a few good events happening this weekend.

Chamber Music at MIA: Evergreens, Lullabies and Film Music

Museum of Islamic Art conducts monthly chamber concerts, where you can enjoy listening to Chamber music surrounded by the marvelous Islamic architecture of the Atrium.

Hosted by Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Hassan Moataz El Molla, Olivia Farkas, Harald Georgi  will play the cello while Sandor Onodi and Veronika Papai, will play the double bass.

Duke Ellington: Caravan, Pharrel Williams: Happy, Stevie Wonder: Sir Duke, Mancini: Theme from The Pink Panther and many more will be played at the museum.

The concert is free and seating is on a first come first serve basis and subject to capacity.

Musical Impressions from the Gulf and Beyond | Michael Pignéguy & The Awakenings Ensemble

Qatar National Library is hosting the final Qatar performance of The Awakenings Ensemble prior to a series of international shows of the Ensemble.

The QNL show will also be the final performance in Qatar of group leader Michael Pignéguy, before relocating back to Australia with his family.

Oriental rhythms and musical textures have made a significant impact on his musical style and these have been infused with contemporary music technology and aspects of jazz to create the sound of group.

The concert is free.

Dragon Boat

Dragon boat racing is an event, where all participants on the boat must work together to power the boat forward.

Youngsters above the age of 14 are allowed to participate and group sessions can be organized for 10 or more people.

The event will include all of the equipment (paddles, PFD) and staff.

‘Beautiful to eat, Good to look at’ exhibition

Oversized cupcakes, boxes of chocolates and bright banquets are a part of an exhibition by Italian artist Elisabetta Farina titled “Beautiful to eat, Good to look at” held at Katara.

Farina said the exhibition represents the “sweet” memories connected to the places she lived, such as Doha, New York, Paris and Italy.

The inspiration of the exhibition came from the observation of a growing trend: the so called Cake mania. Chocolate and sugar are used as artistic material as it is done with bronze and clay.”
