Northwesterly wind exceeding 22 knots has led to low visibility, warns the Qatar Meteorology Department on its social media accounts.
The visibility has gone down to less than 3 km in some areas due to raised dust.
The department also instructed residents to avoid beach activities due to the rough sea.
In coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, the department also listed out a few safety precautions to be followed.
These are:
* Avoid direct contact with dust especially elderly and asthma patients or any other respiratory conditions as well as those who have done eye or nose surgeries recently.
* Wash face, nose and mouth regularly to prevent dust from reaching lungs.
* Wear a mask when going outdoors.
* Avoid rubbing your eyes to prevent eye infection.
* Check with nearest health center in case any allergy symptoms occur.
* Go to the emergency department if you have severe difficulty in breathing.
Qatar Meteorology Department urges all to be cautious and to avoid going to sea as well as to follow latest updates only through their official social media accounts.
