Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has clarified that COVID-19 vaccination is provided by invitation only according to the phased vaccination plan.
The Ministry has also emphasised the priority groups eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations and the process to get the vaccine. According to the Ministry, the COVID-19 Drive-through Vaccination Center in Lusail is designated only for people receiving their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and during the first dose people will be informed if the second dose will be administered at drive-through centre or at a health centre.
To clarify and to educate the citizens and residents, the Ministry has listed down a few important points about the COVID-19 National Vaccination Program in several languages.
At present the priority groups eligible for vaccinations are people aged 50 years of age and above regardless of their health conditions, people with moderate chronic medical conditions, additional healthcare professionals and other key workers in different ministries and industries, including teachers and administrative staff in education.
“The vaccine is offered in all 27 health centres by invitation only according to the phased vaccination plan,” said the Ministry.
“The targeted groups will receive an SMS invitation to come to their health centre on a specified date and time,” the Ministry clarified.
The Ministry has prioritised vaccinating teachers and school administration staff at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
“Attending QNCC is by invitation only. The targeted groups will receive an SMS invitation to come to the vaccination centre on the dates specified for both their first and second dose of the vaccine,” the Ministry reiterated.
The COVID-19 vaccine is offered to other professionals and key workers in different ministries and industries.
“The COVID-19 Drive-through Vaccination Center in Lusail caters only for people receiving their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will notify eligible people if their second dose will be administered at the COVID-19 Drive-Through Center or a health center,” said the Ministry.
“People do not need a time-specific appointment to attend the drive-through center, they can attend at any time during operational hours on the due day of their second dose,” it added.
Also it is possible to travel abroad immediately after receiving the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The Ministry also further reiterated that exemption from quarantine arrangements apply as long as the return date from travel is 14 days after the second dose.
