Doha: The new member to join the Al Khor Park Zoo inhabitants, a Zebra foal, has become a favourite among the visitors during the weekend. The ‘baby’ Zebra was seen running gingerly inside its enclave to the amusement of young visitors.

The zoo also has some African ostrich chicks added to their growing list of animals and birds.

The huge playing area, zoo with various animals and birds like oryx, deer, peacock, parrots and more, ample parking space and greenery has made Al Khor Park a favourite picnic spot for families on weekends.

The zoo will be open from 8am to 10pm on all days except Tuesday when entry is restricted to women and children. There is a QR5 entry fees and children under nine years get free entry. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Qatar National Sport Day, all Al Dhakira and Al Khor public parks will be open to the public without entry fees

The mini zoo has many open stockades for grazing animals, 10 glass cages and one giant cage with water ponds, falls, bridges and trees where nests are hanged. The zoo also has a veterinary room to check and treat animals and birds, rooms for quarantine and observation, a laboratory, a pharmacy and a room for dissection. There is an attached building for preparing food for animals and birds.

Doha Zoo, which is currently under renovation, had provided animals to Al Khor Park which received hundreds of animals and birds since its opening in February 2016.
