QatarDebate Center (QD) a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has been invited to attend the first Jordan Schools Arabic Debate Championship organised by the Jordanian Ministry of Education, at the Royal Palace of culture in al Hussein Youth City, Jordan. 800 students representing 200 schools in Jordan competed in the championship, in the presence of the Minister of Education and  Jamal Al Baker - Community Engagement Manager, QatarDebate - and senior officials and some deputies of the Jordanian Council.
Al Baker, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the generous hospitality and good reception, praising the well-organised championship. “The final debate was marked by intense competition between the two teams, which was characterised by a spirit of encouragement and good performance for both, indicating good preparation, love of competition, and spread of the art of debate and critical thinking among school students and this is what we seek in QatarDebate to deliver the center’s message to the world” he said.
Ahmed Quzli, Faculty of Medicine in Jordan, student and former debater said “the credit goes to QatarDebate Center and what we have learned from programs and educational materials issued by the center. We have started three years ago to organise local debate tournaments and qualify school students to participate in international tournaments like the students of Jordanian universities, to nominate distinguished students to represent the Kingdom of Jordan in the International Schools Arabic Debate Championship in Qatar”.
“The support we get from QatarDebate and the Ministry of Education in Jordan is so valuable to expand the base of debate between school students and in a systematic way, whereas our plan is to activate the debate through all schools in the Kingdom of Jordan by 2025” he added.
