Ministry releases 21,000 baby groupers into Qatar sea

Doha: Ministry of Municipality, represented by Fisheries Department, released about 21,000 young grouper fish, the size of 52 grams, into the sea in the eastern region that is suitable for groupers.

Ibrahim Salman Al Mohannadi, Head of the Aquatic Biology Research Center at the Fisheries Department, said that the process of releasing young fish in the sea has been ongoing for more than a year, with the aim of increasing fish stocks and production from the types of fish that were produced in the Aquarium Research Center at Ras Matbakh. 

He further pointed out that the total fish that has been released into the sea so far has reached 580,000 baby groupers, in addition to 701,000 young stingrays.
