Jeddah: The General Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that Hurricane "Meg" will have no direct impact on the coasts or the airspace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia except for the resulting flow of moisture, which may affect the heights of Jazan region.
In a press statement, the official spokesman of the Meteorology Hussein Al-Qahtani explained that the hurricane "Meg" is a first-class hurricane which is expected to affect the Yemeni Socotra island, which is close to the center of the hurricane, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
He pointed out that Socotra island may be affected by active winds and heavy rain, and then the hurricane will turn into a tropical storm heading west toward the Gulf of Aden and ends on the coast of northern Somalia.
He pointed out that the strength of the hurricane "Meg" will start from first class unlike Hurricane "Chapala," which began with strong strength of the fourth degree.
