Doha:  Qatar national hockey team will play two friendly matches against Singapore next week, the Qatar Hockey Association (QHA) said here yesterday.

Abdul Nazer, General Secretary of QHA said that seven Qatari players who are playing for Johor Hockey Association in the Malaysian League will join the team for the friendly in Singapore.

“The squad will be strengthened by ace forward Savio Nayak and Qatari youngsters Hamad Sahotti and Yusef Sulaiti. The squad returns on November 10 before the World Hockey League at the end of November, which is hosted by Qatar,” said Nazer.

The Johor Hockey Association team is coached by Qatar coach Shaiful Azli and have made it to the final of the Presidents Cup in Malaysia.  In the two legged semi-finals, they beat Thunderbolt Hockey Club, a leading First division team by an aggregate of three goals to two.

Samilluah, Nur Hafir and Sheraz Ali were the scorers for Johor Hockey Association. The final will be played on Wednesday against First Division Champions Armed Forces.
