Doha: A press conference was held in Doha on Thursday regarding updates on FIFA World Cup tickets, Hayya Cards, accommodations and transportation during the upcoming tournament in November. The press conference was held by CEO FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, HE Nasser Al Khater, Safety and Security Operations Committee, Col Jassim Abdulrahim Al Sayed, and Director General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Eng. Yasser Al-Jammal.
During the press conference, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 CEO HE Nasser Al-Khater stated that 3 million tickets have been released, of which 2.45 million have been sold so far.
More than 500,000 tickets were snapped up during the most recent sales phase in July and August. The next sales phase for the tournament will begin around the end of September, while over-the-counter sales will start in Qatar soon
He also reminded that spectators who wish to attend the World Cup in November must ensure that they have obtained tickets to the tournament, applied a Hayya Card and secured their accommodation, if they are coming from outside Qatar.
The FIFA World Cup CEO also revealed that Semi FInal and Final matches are the best sellers when it comes to tickets, apart from matches of Argentina, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
For his part, Director General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Eng. Yasser Al-Jammal also announced that a 1+3 policy has been established due to the high demand for the World Cup tickets. The policy entails that during the tournament's group stage, from November 20 to December 6, 2022, World Cup ticket holders will be able to link their Hayya Card to a maximum of three friends or relatives who do not have tickets. This will allow them to enter Qatar and enjoy the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 festivities. This will also take effect from next week.
This policy is being introduced to ensure that the tournament is a family event. There will also be a minimal entry charge for non-ticketed fans aged 12 and over. This feature will be launched in alignment with the Last-Minute Ticket Sales period.
Furthermore, he also stated that starting next week, football fans can book more accommodations, including hotels, through a third party website. He also affirmed that this reservation can also be used to register for the Hayya Card.
Eng. Yasser Al-Jammal also stated that as for the housing prices, Qatar offers several accommodation options, starting at $80, that will suit everyone.
On the otherhand, Colonel Jassim Abdulrahim Al Sayed from the Safety and Security Operations Committee, affirmed in the press conference that the "Qatar World Cup will not only be the most successful in terms of organization, but will also be the safest and most secure for the fans, participating delegations, citizens and residents."
He also added that one of the advantages of the Hayya card is its multi-visit feature which will be activated from November 1, 2022. This means that a Hayya Card holder can enter the country more than once.
He also added that parking slots and transportation services at the Abu Samra border port will be provided during the tournament period to facilitate the entry of fans by land. Entry by land is allowed for cars with non-Qatari plates, according to certain criteria through pre-registration platforms, and it will be announced on October 15, 2022.
This service will allow thousands of vehicles to be parked and help fans reach downtown Doha using the country's transportation network, said Col Jassim Abdulrahim Al Sayed in the press conference.
