NSD: Rapid antigen test required for unvaccinated participants

All unvaccinated individuals should show a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test results done within 24 hours before entering National Sport Day activities, according to a health care protocol issued by the Ministry of Public Health. 

National Sport Day Health Care Protocol and Public Health Measures issued by the Ministry provide guidance on effective public health measures to protect participants, spectators, and organisers by reducing the risks of infection before, during and after sport activities.

The protocol said that all group sports activities during National Sport Day this year are outdoors only with no more than 15 people from the vaccinated individuals or a maximum of 5 not fully vaccinated such as children under the age of 12 exclusively only in individual sporting activities outdoor.   

It added: “Those who are not fully vaccinated need to show proof that they are free of COVID -19 by doing the rapid antigen test within 24 hours before the activities.”

The Ministry has divided the protocol in different segments including, range and location of permitted activities, participation from outside Qatar, catering, other general health measures, attendees and spectators.

The Ministry has insisted that organisers, participants in activities and spectators must fully adhere to all health procedures, especially those related to wearing of masks at all times, except during tough sports that may prevent breathing during practice, masks are used during light sports such as walking, as well as other measures such as safe physical distance, cleaning hands with sterilisers and other measures imposed by the Ministry to reduce the spread COVID-19.

Participants and spectators are also requested to adhere to health procedures, especially social distancing and wearing masks.

Participants should also avoid using shower rooms and shared changing rooms in all places. All participants must download Ehtraz app, and only access is allowed to those who show green status. 

The Ministry has also advised that vulnerable groups, including persons over the age of 60, people with chronic diseases and persons with disabilities, should not be encouraged to attend activities.

For guests invited from outside Qatar are required to follow the conditions for travel to Qatar. A swap from arrivals will be needed for COVID-19 test within 36 hours of arrival. Participants who have tested positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to participate unless they have fully recovered.
