Doha: The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee announced a new self-service Smart Phone Ticketing feature in addition to a wide range of tickets available for the upcoming 24th Men’s Handball World Championship in Qatar, as excitement continues to build for the sporting mega-event.
The pioneering Smart Phone Ticket system is set to be an important “first” for a sports event in Qatar.
While IT savvy people can buy tickets online and via smart phones, tickets are also available for purchase at merchandising stands in malls across Qatar including Landmark, City Centre, Villaggio and Al Khor.
Sheikha Asmaa Al Thani, Head of Marketing Section, Qatar 2015 Organising Committee, said: “We believe that Smart Phone Ticketing is going to become the preferred way of attending sports events in Qatar. We want to enable the widest possible audience to attend Qatar 2015 next month and with the support of Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Director General, Qatar 2015 Organising Committee, we have provided several ticket sales points for sport fans to ensure that they can buy their tickets, attend matches and enjoy the excitement.”
To purchase a ticket online, sports fans can visit www.qatarhandball2015.com/tickets and choose the match, time and venue they want to attend. Once registered, people can buy tickets by country, venue and date.
Before paying for the tickets, users will be asked to select a delivery method, which allows them to print the ticket at home, request for smart phone delivery, or pickup from the merchandising stands at malls.
By clicking the “Smart Phone Delivery” option, customers’ tickets are sent directly to their smart phones for added ease of use and security. Spectators from all over the world can buy their tickets using the website and use the email sent to their inbox to get into the venues on their selected day.
As part of an ongoing campaign, the Organising Committee has also launched a special promotional push at Qatar University. Students, faculty members and staff can purchase special price tickets for the Championship at dedicated booths at the University when they present their University ID.
Tickets to the spectacular Opening Ceremony as well as the first handball match in the Championship between Qatar and Brazil have now been released and are available on the website.
Countries competing for the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship include Qatar, Spain, France, Denmark, Croatia, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, Iceland, Czech Republic, Russia, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Belarus, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Germany.The Peninsula
