Doha: Gaetan Faucon spurred Mudhish to victory in the Al Karana Cup race at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) here yesterday.
The A de Mieulle-trained horse won the top prize of QR57,000 as it stormed over the finish line to win the 1900m dirt race.
One Cool Bex, trained by I Al Malki and ridden by Evert Pheiffer, came in second while Elkhart, trained by A Al Qathiri and ridden by Marco Monteriso, finished third.
Altogether eight races were held yesterday. T O’Shea rode Hassiba to win the penultimate race of the day and claim the first prize of QR45,600.
Waddah, ridden by P Convertino and trained by A de Mieulle, was second while Mutazz, ridden by Marvin Suerland and trained by Abdullah Al Jaber, came third.
However, it was a very good afternoon for trainer Jassim Al Ghazali. As many as nine horses trained by the Qatari finished in the top three in yesterday’s eight races.
English jockey Harry Bentley also had a decent outing. He had as many as four podium finishes yesterday and rode Rassan to victory in the P/A Graduation Plate race. THE PENINSULA
