Doha: The penultimate round for Qatar International Road Racing Championship (QIRRCH) will be held this weekend at Losail International Circuit. The defending champion Alex Cudlin can claim his third straight QIRRCH title this weekend with still one more round to go.

Cudlin has a gap of 92 points with Nina Prinz who is second in the standings. In the sixth round, there will be a wild card entrant in the form of French rider Anthony Delhalle.

Delhalle is not new to the Losail track.  In 2010, Delhalle joined the QIRRCH and he got the title with a gap of 38 points with Cudlin who finished in second place. In the same year, 2010, Delhalle also took part in the QERT (Qatar Endurance Racing Team) with Cudlin and Al Naimi in the Endurance World Championship and they claimed the EWC title in the Superstock Category.

As a novelty for these two last rounds, the QMMF Team has change the bike from the Suzuki GSX-R100 to a Kawasaki ZX-10R for Cudlin and Prinz.

“I’m really looking forward to racing this round. I’ll have a new bike which is exciting and also Anthony will be competing. Unfortunately, I won’t get to turn a wheel on the bike until the 45 minute official practice session today. So at the moment it’s unknown how we will go. I’m sure if I find a good setting on the bike and go in the right direction everything will go to plan,” said Cudlin on the eve of the sixth round action.

“I really want to win both races this weekend even though championship wise I don’t have to, I still want to get the double win. If I do go well on the Kawasaki, it’ll prove I’m a versatile rider, after no testing or data on the bike, but the main thing is to seal the title. I’ve been having a pretty consistent season, so I’d like to get this thing wrapped up this weekend. Whatever happens, it’ll be full gas from me, so we’ll just see how the weekend pans out.”

Together with the QIRRCH, there will be the fourth round of Losail Asian Road Racing Series, where the leader of the championship is the Indian rider Rajini Krishnan.

The sixth round of Qatar National Road Racing Championship will also take place this weekend.

The leader in the Open class is Abdulaziz Abdulla with 36 points and Talal Wehbe is very close to him with 33 points.  Regarding the Production class, Nasser Sheghail Al Abdulla is leading this category with 20 points and Saif Al Naimi is second with 18 points. The Peninsula
