Expo 2023, Microsoft sign exclusive technology agreement

Doha: Expo 2023 Doha and Microsoft inked an agreement yesterday making the latter the exclusive technology partner of the International Horticultural expo event happening from October 2023 to March 2024 at Al Bidda Park.

The signing was made at the Ministry of Municipality between Expo 2023 Secretary General, Mohammed Ali Al Khouri and Microsoft Qatar General Manager, Lana Khalaf. The partnership solidifies Expo 2023 Doha’s commitment to present the most advanced technologies at the event.

“Agricultural and horticultural sectors are currently undergoing massive technological transformation, and the role of technology is crucial in building sustainable systems that can help us overcome the most pressing environmental challenges. As the hosts of Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar, we are happy to work together with the world’s technological leader to introduce the world to technology-powered agriculture,” said Expo 2023 Secretary General, Mohammed Ali Al Khouri.

For her part, Microsoft Qatar General Manager, Lana Khalaf said: “We are excited to showcase our AI-driven solutions specifically designed for the agriculture, horticulture and natural resources conservation sectors with the aim to help governments and companies achieve economic and societal benefits and create a more prosperous and sustainable future.”

Through this partnership, Microsoft will showcase the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability solutions accessible to businesses in a variety of sectors to hasten the accomplishment of their sustainability objectives.

Moreover, it will display the Microsoft Sustainability Partner ecosystem, and organise hackathons and awareness workshops that highlight ways that businesses and people may lessen their carbon footprint. Microsoft will also provide sophisticated, cutting-edge technology to Expo 2023 Doha in order to provide guests a distinctive digital experience.

Expo 2023 Doha is set to be the first A1 horticultural exhibition hosted in the Middle East. A1 category events are major, large scale world horticultural exhibitions that are held for a long duration of three to six months.

Three million people from all around the world are expected for the 179-day exhibition with the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment,” which will open from October 2 to March 28, 2024. 

The expo aims to encourage sustainable innovation and reduce desertification, and inspire visitors to take part in the change through four sub-themes including Modern Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Environmental Awareness, and Sustainability.
