Doha, Qatar: US First Lady Jill Biden today visited the Qatar Foundation (QF) and its partner university, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q), in Doha. The visit showcased the strong bilateral partnership and shared health and educational priorities between the United States and Qatar.
She was accompanied by US Ambassador to Qatar H E Timmy Davis. They were received by Dr. Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education, at the QF headquarters.
Dr. Biden who continues to promote quality education for all, heard about how QF’s ecosystem promotes inclusive education, and how the QF entities contribute to academic and research excellence.

Manager of Government Partnerships Habes Howail briefed on QF's journey and vision. He explained the Education City campus, which hosts six US university branch campuses, homegrown Hamad Bin Khalifa University, research institutes, scholastic and community centers, and schools.
Dr. Biden and Ambassador Davis were also briefed on QF efforts to advance women’s health research and well-being by leaders from different entities and initiatives.
Chief Executive Officer, Sidra Medicine, Dr. Iyabo Tinubu-Karch; and Dr. Souhaila Al Khodor, Director of the Division of Reproductive and Perinatal Health, Sidra Medicine explained the programmes and services at the hospital designed to provide a holistic approach to women and children health. They highlighted the initiatives taken to promote precision medicine.
The Executive Director, Al Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women Dr. Sohaira Siddiqui highlighted the role the centre plays in promoting the religious, developmental, social, and research programmes for women of all ages.

Chief Executive Officer, of World Innovation Summit for Health, Dr. Slim Slama briefed Dr.Biden about QF’s global health initiative with a special emphasis on their efforts on cancer care prevention.
At the end of her visit to The QF headquarters, Dr. Biden signed the visitor’s book and wrote “The Qatar Foundation is a testament to the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. As an educator, I am filled with hope to see Education City planting seeds of curiosity in its students.
May we all grow like the Sidra Tree as we improve human health build community and enrich the world we love and share.”

Then upon arrival Dr. Biden and Ambassador Davis were received by the Dean and Professor of Psychiatry and Healthcare Policy & Research, Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar, Dr. Javaid Sheikh; and Chief Communications, External Affairs and Development Officer, Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar, Nesreen Al Rifai.
Dr. Biden and Ambassador Davis were briefed on Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and its contributions to precision medicine and women’s health by Dr. Javaid Sheikh.
They were also briefed on Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar‘s research and educational activities, including in women’s health, by Associate Dean for Pre-Medical Education, Dr. James Roach; Medical Students Kareem Aly and Wadha Al Nabti.
Dr. Biden with a strong commitment to promoting women’s health and well-being also discussed the importance of creating awareness and prevention of conditions including cancer.
Dr. Biden on a day visit to Qatar will address the Doha Forum tomorrow.
