Crowds filled Katara's facilities, streets and waterfront throughout Eid holidays.
Cultural Village Foundation, Katara’s four-day long Eid Al Fitr activities achieved a great success as thousands of visitors flocked to enjoy its diversified cultural and entertainment programme for all ages.
Katara Director of Public Relations and Communication, Salem Mabkhout Al Marri, expressed his happiness with the resounding success and the great public turnout achieved by the Katara in celebration of the blessed Eid Al Fitr. He praised the cooperation shown by the public during their four-day event, and thanked the media and Katara’s partners in making the festival a distinguished celebration.
Throughout the days, the atmosphere of joy continued in the streets of Katara where the Eid gifts for children were distributed. The water games at Katara beach also received a remarkable turnout from swimming enthusiasts and beach-goers. Together with their families, it proved that the beach is one of the most prominent and leading entertainment destination in Qatar.
The artistic performances presented by five popular groups from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Syria won the admiration of a large audience of citizens and residents of different ages and groups, through folk dance performances presented by the Qatari Women’s Folk Renaissance Band, the Saudi Al Mizmar Band, and the Welad Al Mizan Band.
The Moroccan band, the Egyptian Golden Eagle, and the Syrian Afrah Al Sham band also celebrate the colours of the folklore of Qatar and other Arab countries.
The fireworks display was also a crowd-puller on the opening day of the Katara Eid activities.
Aside from this, artistic, cultural and entertainment performances presented by the Cultural Village during the Eid period were well received by the huge crowds who filled Katara’s facilities, streets and waterfront.
Visitors expressed their happiness with the festive and entertainment programme prepared by Katara.
Ahmed Selim , a visitor, said: “I am keen to go early every day to Katara, accompanied by family and friends, to enjoy the Eid holiday in an open and wonderful festive atmosphere, and to attend various events that bring together different colours of entertainment, fun and knowledge, such as watching art shows, films and swimming.”
Hossam Mahmoud meanwhile praised the good organisation and preparation of Katara’s activities on Eid, pointing out that his children prefer to go to Katara to celebrate Eid and receive gifts, in addition to doing marine activities on Katara beach or watching space and universe films offered by the Al Thuraya Planetarium.
Abdul Rahman Al Ayesh said Katara is a preferred destination for visitors of all nationalities, because of the diverse facilities and enjoyable activities it offers.
He said he enjoyed the Eid occasion in an open atmosphere provided by Katara’s beach, gardens and hills, which are characterised by their wonderful designs and give a special natural beauty.
As part of Katara’s Eid programme, from May 10 to 14, a play entitled “Halalm Dalalhom” will be held at the village. The theatrical show was written by Jassim Al Jalahma and directed by Abdullah Al Badr.
