Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) announced the launch of the Katara short story competition, as part of the activities held annually during Ramadan.
This year’s theme is ‘brotherhood’. Stories submitted to the competition should consider the importance of brotherhood, as it is one of the social human values called for by Islam.
The last date for entry is the 29th day of Ramadan.
Katara stressed the necessity for the participant to adhere to the topic of the story, and that the number of words should not be less than 1,500 or more than 5,000. It is also required that the story be written in classical Arabic without any spelling errors. The conditions also include that the story must not have been published in any media outlet, or won any award before. It must be specific to this competition only.
Participation is available to all writers, regardless of age, provided that the contestant has the right to participate with only one story. The file must be a Word document only.

Katara has allocated three prizes for the winners of this competition. First place will receive a cash prize of QR15,000, while second place will receive a prize of QR12,000, and third place will receive a cash prize of QR10,000.
