Doha: The third edition of Qatar Balloon Festival (QBF) will take place from January 19 to 28 next year, organisers have told The Peninsula.
The event, which usually takes places in December, has been pushed to January because of the World Cup this year.
The ten-day event will feature over 50 balloons, compared to 40 last year. Participants for the third edition will come from all around the world. Two months from now, hot air balloons will dot Qatar’s skies with bright colours and fun designs. The public can enjoy live music, entertainment and a variety of international cuisines while enjoying the spectacular view of the balloons, especially at night.
There is no confirmed location for the event yet but it has been held at Aspire Park for the past two years.
Activities during the ten-day event include: Sunrise Balloon launch, Tethered flights, nightglow, dance and musical performances where an array of performers, music bands, DJs, and singers are set to dazzle the audience.
A special arena of all kinds of games has also been dedicated for all including carnival games, team games, human football, football darts, virtual reality games, electronic games, themed jumping houses, and slides.
Food kiosks and trucks will also be available.
Pilot and balloon registration has also opened online.
The festival timing will be from 4pm to 10pm. Mass launch of hot air balloons will take place at dawn every morning during the festival.
