Mowasalat launches Karwa Academy keeping abreast of technological advancements

Doha: In a bid to enhance driving and safety standards employing modern technologies in training, Mowasalat (Karwa) yesterday officially launched its new Karwa Academy, formerly known as Karwa Driving School. The launch event held at Karwa Headquarters was attended by distinguished guests, media representatives, and key stakeholders from across the transport and education sectors.

Addressing the launch ceremony, Director of Karwa Academy, Faisal Al Nuaimi said there has been a revolution in technology, in addition to introduction of new regulations and many safety elements in recent years. “This took us to a decision where we transformed a driving school into an academy.”

“Now we have a technical training centre. We have a lot of technology like VR and other simulators and we have online platforms driven by international partners,” he added.

He said that in the past it was just driving training and licensing, but now a lot of new training programmes will cater to specific needs of people

“Welcome to a new chapter at Karwa Academy, where tradition meets innovation. As we step into this phase, our focus on enhancing customer experience through agile and responsive training solutions is stronger than ever.

“We are dedicated to empowering our clients and staff with the skills needed for today’s dynamic transportation and logistics market, ensuring safety and professionalism in every service we offer,” he added.

“We have become the regional destination and already people from Oman or engineers from Alfardan came and participated in our technical training. This was three weeks ago, and we are expecting many more from the region.

“It is not only technicians, by the way, or only engineers. You as a driver should be having this type of certification in order to know how you deal with high voltage system (in electric or hybrid vehicles).”

Under its new identity, Karwa Academy is set to expand its offerings, focusing on both business-to-business and business-to-consumer segments, providing enhanced training solutions that address the evolving needs of the transport industry. The event featured the unveiling of a new logo and branding, symbolising the academy’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

Besides, the academy has introduced new capacities through the IMI certification and custom-made training solutions for businesses, specifically tailored to address the country’s requirements in the field of electric vehicles.

Karwa Academy is committed to deliver top-tier education, which is reflected in its comprehensive training programmes, such as defensive driving, certificate of professional competency and emergency response driver training are designed to meet the ever-evolving demands of the public transport and automotive sectors in collaboration with renowned organisations such as the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA).

The Academy also provides off-road training programmes, in addition to the ADR training, which is essential for safe transport of dangerous goods, in accordance with the MoT directives and regulations. Furthermore, Karwa Academy introduced licence training for disabled candidates to empower individuals with disabilities and enable them to become responsible and safe drivers.

The launch event also included a tour of Karwa Academy’s state-of-the-art facilities and the IMI certified Training Centre. Guests experienced firsthand the cutting-edge training methodologies and equipment now available to students and professionals looking to advance their capabilities in transportation safety and operations.
