Doha: The Chief Strategy and Development Office at Qatar University (QU) organised a ceremony in recognition for the efforts of the university units in obtaining the ISO certificates by achieving institutional excellence through the pursuit of quality management.
The ceremony witnessed honouring and appreciating the efforts of the university’s unit employees for their efforts to implement and follow up the quality management system. These units were keen to achieve institutional excellence by working on the application of quality management in the best way.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Khalid Al Khanji, Chief Strategy and Development Officer; Prof. Maryam Al Ali Al Maadeed, Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Khaled Al Khater, Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Eiman Mustafawi, Vice-President for Student Affairs, in addition to the university unit directors, and a number of university employees.
A number of units at QU recently obtained the certification of internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 standard, which is concerned with determining the requirements of a Quality Management System. They are Centre for Entrepreneurship, Office of the General Legal Counsel, and the Qatar University Library. In addition to these units, there are eight units ISO 9001:2015 accredited in Qatar University including KINDI Centre for Computing Research, Student Learning Support Centre, Research Support Department (Grants and Contracts), Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, Chief Strategy and Development Office.
The following units re-accredited — Community Services and Continuing Education Centre, Information Technology Services Department, and Procurement and Contracts Department re-accredited for the second time.
In a statement on this occasion, Dr. Khalid Al Khanji, Chief Strategy and Development Officer, said: “I am pleased to express to you my deepest gratitude and thanks for the cooperation and response I have received from you towards continuous improvement endeavours at Qatar University. Your constant belief in working to achieve institutional excellence through the pursuit of quality management.”
In a speech delivered by Prof. Kaltham Ali Al Ghanim, Director of Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, said that obtaining the ISO certificate enabled the institute to gain an exceptional reputation in the quality of work, as many procedures were modified to comply with the quality management system, and this included continuous follow-up with the aim of continuous improvement and development.
