DOHA: Brazil legend Zico  will arrive in Doha to discuss the managerial position with Qatar Stars League (QSL) giants Al Gharafa tomorrow.

Arthur Antunes Coimbra, better known as Zico, is one of the famous Brazilian footballers who have played in the famous yellow shirt for the South Amercian team.

Often called the ‘White Pelé’, he is commonly considered one of the most skilled finishers and one of the best passers ever and possibly the world’s best player of the late 70s and early 80s

He retired as a player in 1994 and served as an assistant to Brazil coach Mario Zagallo in 1998.

Zico, 60, coached the Japanese national team in 2002 replacing former Qatar coach Philippe Troussier.

He guided the Japanese team to Asian Cup title in 2004 then coached Turkey’s Fenerbahce, who reached the  quarter-finals in 2007–08 in the Champions League.

He resigned as coach of the Iraqi national team despite his side being in the running to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, that will be held in Brazil next June.

Al Gharafa began last season under Brazilian coach Paulo Silas, who was sacked and replaced by Habib Sadek mid-way through the season.

The new QSL season will commence in September.
