Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has launched an air bridge from King Abdullah II Air Base in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Al Qarara in Khan Yunis Governorate, Gaza Strip, to address the urgent humanitarian and medical needs of the population.
This initiative complements the land bridge previously established by Qatar.
The launch of the air bridge was attended by Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad; HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani; CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari; and representatives from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).
HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation also attended the signing of an agreement between Qatar Charity and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to facilitate the entry of the Qatari humanitarian aid via land through Jordan. The agreement ensures coordinated and secure transportation and distribution of aid.
In her speech, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation stated that since the beginning of the truce, Qatar has sent 65 relief trucks through the Jordanian border. Complementing this land bridge, two helicopter flights carrying vital medical aid will arrive in North Khan Yunis, she added. She emphasized that this aid comes within the framework of joint cooperation among QFFD, Qatar Charity, and QRCS.
Her Excellency added that the State of Qatar has provided 20,000 tents, which were shipped via a land bridge from Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, adding that in cooperation with JHCO, they are working to deliver these tents to the brothers in northern Gaza.
