On his official Twitter handle, Prof. Dr. Khaled bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Katara General Manager, announced today, January 3, that "the number of visitors to Katara during the World Cup reached 7.1 million".

As the biggest sporting event in the world and the first in the Middle East, the Katara Cultural Village lined up a slew of activities that entertained fans during the football tournament from November 18 to December 18, 2022.

One of the highlights of the Katara World Cup festivities includes the 12th edition of the Katara International Dhow Festival. Lovers of maritime heritage were offered glimpses of the country's glorious era of pearl diving, fishing, and sea voyages.

The World Cup celebrations in Katara also invited a huge turnout of visitors as several concerts and performances from Argentina, Britain, and Arab countries were held, in addition to art exhibitions and events from Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Ecuador, Bosnia, Russia, Mexico, Indonesia, and Iran.

Other key attractions during the tournament were the new installations on the Katara Hills, and the several murals that were recently unveiled at various spots inside Katara. The world's largest football boot was also unveiled days before the tournament, which served as an added attraction to global football fans.

During the tournament period, the Katara Publishing House also launched 22 books in both Arabic and English, highlighting World Cup's most significant events. This is in addition to book-related activities which saw the participation of all Qatari publishing houses.

On December 18, the last day of the tournament and the celebration of Qatar National Day, Katara visitors witnessed impressive performances by the Joint Special Forces and the Qatar Air Sports Committee with its Paratroopers and Paramotor shows, alongside other several ongoing events and activities.
