Doha: The wildlife wing of the Department of Protection and Wildlife at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment spotted the first nesting of the endangered Hawksbill sea turtle on the coast of Fuwayrit on Saturday evening (April 1). This marks the start of the turtle nesting season, which runs until August 1 in the islands and the northern coasts of the country, especially in Fuwayrit beach.

The ministry urged citizens and residents to cooperate with them to ensure the success of the nesting season of sea turtles. They are seen mostly in the northeastern region of the country. Ministry departments make special efforts to provide proper conditions for the success of the nesting season and to protect this endangered species, in order to protect the endangered turtles during their nesting, as well, to provide the opportunity to study its behaviour and the environmental effects on it.
