Some Vodafone customers faced disruption in services for long hours as they were unable to make voice call and to access the Internet yesterday. However, the telecom provider was able to restore their services by 8:40pm.

Vodafone shared the information about service disruption with the customers through social media; Facebook and Twitter. “We are currently facing interruptions with data and voice services. We apologise for any inconvenience & are working to restore the services,” Vodafone posted on its Twitter account at 4:30pm. “Some customers may be experiencing difficulties when using mobile Internet or trying to make voice calls. We’re working to fix this issue as soon as possible and will let you know once it’s been resolved,” said another comment on Facebook.

Many customers The Peninsula spoke to did not face any issues. However, several people in Al Wakrah complained about the disrupted services. “I noticed disruption in the service afternoon by 2:30. I was not able to make call or access the Internet,” said Ahmadullah Musalman, a Nepalese working at a butchery in Al Wakrah. “Then after reaching Doha in the evening, I received several messages, mostly about missed calls during the disrupted hours,” said Musalman. “I realised by 3pm that my mobile has no network and thought something was wrong with my phone. Then after 7:30pm, the services were restored,” said Abdul Aziz, an Egyptian national working as Accountant.

“I could not place calls or receive calls afternoon. Many of my friends called me up on other social media apps, while my phone was in a WiFi network asking why calls were not going through. Then only sensed there was some network issue,” said Mohammed, an Indian staying in Al Wakrah.

Vodafone said by 8:40pm that data and voice services have been fully restored. “Thank you for your patience. We would like to inform you that voice and data services have been fully restored. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience,” the telecom provider later tweeted.
