DOHA: Dadjak Ter Puttenen produced a flawless routine to help Turkish rider Omer Karaevli win the FEI Art 238.2.2 — 150cm jump-off contest ahead of two home entries on day one of the Qatar International Show Jumping Championship.
The six-year-old Turkish entry clocked a time of 38.50secs to claim the top prize of QR74,500.
Qatari riders Hamad Ali Al Attiyah and Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani finished second and third respectively to round off an impressive performance in front of their home fans at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) yesterday.
Al Attiyah 1 who clocked a time of 38.63s — was astride Whitaker while Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani — who clocked 39.71secs — was riding Concordija.
The second-place finish was worth QR59,600. The third-place finish was worth QR44,700.
Earlier, in an impressive run of form for the home entries, rider Faleh Suwayed Al Ajami produced a near-perfect routine on horse Dolce Vita M to lead a Qatari 1-2-3 in the 274.5.6 145cm contest at the QREC.
Dolce Vita M’s effort was worth a staggering QR29,625 for owner R C Crane.
Anyway II — ridden by Sheikh Ali — finished second while Tamira IV — who had Khalid Al Emadi in the saddle — finished in third spot.
The second prize was worth QR23,700 while Tamira IV’s effort was worth QR17,775.
Earlier, Abdulrahman Al Hamazani led a Saudi Arabia sweep in the 274.5.3 130/135cm competition by winning with a time of 25.59secs.
Al Hamazani powered Zjuliana Fairy V to victory and claimed the prize of QR 6,250.
Compatriot Khaled Almobty finished second with Vimaira while Abdulaziz Al Hamazani rode Classic Girl 22 to the third spot.
Vimaira’s second-place finish as worth QR5,000 while Classic Girl 22 helped owner Reipert Malin pick up the QR3,750 in cash.
Qatari rider Abdullah Al Ajeil yesterday produced a flawless run on Le Premier K to win the FEI ART 274.5.3-120cm contest.
Le Premier K clocked a time of 25.28secs to seal the top prize of QR3,750 at the Main Arena of Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).
BMC White Nose — ridden by Meshari Al Harbi — finished second with a time of 25.78 to claim the second prize of QR 3,000.
In third place was Aloha — who had Almobty of Saudi Arabia in the saddle.
Action resumes today at QREC from 1:30pm followed by competitions at 3:30pm and 6:30pm.The three-day event is sponsored by Qatar Olympic Committee, Grand Heritage Doha, Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Airways and Al Kass Sports Channel.
